WordPress have done some updates. Seems like a good idea, it takes longer to get somewhere though.
Oh kewl, you can like posts now.

Another update:
I’ve added some new designs to the Recent page.

Recent Experiences

Hi,
I think it’s been a while since i’ve posted something. I have been doing things, just haven’t been blogging about them.

The last major ‘experience’ happened last week…Splendour in the Grass.
It had to be one of the best things I have ever done. I haven’t really been camping before, so that was different, but it was heaps of fun. The lineup for the festival was the best I have ever seen.  It consisted of:

  • The Strokes
  • The Temper Trap
  • The Pixies
  • Mumford and Sons
  • Passion Pit
  • The Vines
  • Two Door Cinema Club
  • HOT CHIP

And many others that were awesome.

I’ll upload some photos soon.

The last 2 experiences happened on the weekend.
Friday night was our trip to Sono Japanese Restaurant at Hamilton. I was amazed by how nice it looked. They had traditional seating along the side window which had the view of the water (Brisbane river). That’s where we sat hehe. I was expecting to be sitting on the the floor, but how they had designed it was that you step onto a higher floor then they had a small seat that you could sit on and have your legs inside the higher floor. Wow, that’s really had to explain. Not sure if that makes sense. Here’s some photos i’ve found on Google.

We were sitting on the left corner table.

We had a variety of meals – starting off with Sushi and these crab croquets. Then going on to our mains – Greg had Snapper with clam sauce and I had fish (cod) marinated in miso soup (it was the best fish I have ever had!). Then finishing with dessert – Greg had a Strawberry Mousse cake (it tasted so fresh) and I had Tempera Ice cream.

On saturday we went to a Vietnamese restaurant called Red Lotus with our friends Erin and Nick. We ordered a banquet dinner, and got so much food. Way too much. One of the dishes they served was raw beef with some vegetables, and was cooked in front of us by using mentholated spirits and fire to cook the ingredients in the bowl. At one stage, the fire went out, so they added more metho to the saucer under neath, and spilt some on the table in front of me, and still lit it. The fire was on the table less than 30 cm away from me. Haha, the waiter kept trying to blow it out, but it kept coming back. After that he was so nervous. He was shaking when he was handing us plates etc. Overall, it wasn’t too bad though. It was quite eventful, and think that it made the night.

Umbrella

Before

After

I found this umbrella in my car while I was cleaning it. It looks totally reliable. That was fun.

Enter Title here?

I don’t have much to say really. My weekend was busy, but was it really that interesting to write a blog about? You decide.
Friday:
I finished off the website design for the project i’m doing at the moment. I’m quite happy with what we came up with. At around 5pm, I met Greg at his house, and went to the football (NRL). It was the Broncos vs Tigers, and the Tigers won woo! When we got home, Greg made us a noodle omelet. They’re usually quite good, but this one was a bit burnt (by a bit I mean, kind of a lot). Sorry Greg.

Saturday:
We went present shopping, and lost $4 to those stupid skill tester machines that had awesome Toy Story 3 toys to win. I then went home and got ready for Amy, Kristy and Nat’s 21st party. Emma and I were meeting Erin at her house at 6pm. I was late. Emma and I were both wearing the same dress (Erin’s bridesmaid dresses. Yes, they were a bit annoying). The party wasn’t too bad. We drank a bit, so it made it more enjoyable. Haha, afterwards we went to Mc Donalds (while drunk), and on the way back to Erin’s house, I remembered my camera. I had left it at the twins house. So we had to go back. Sorry Nick. Also, thank you to Greg for picking me up at 12am 😀

Sunday:
It was Dylan’s (Greg’s nephew’s) birthday. We all met at this totally awesome park near Logan Hospital. There was heaps to eat/snack on, and heaps of different balls to play with lol. After the party, I caught the bus to work…grrr.

All in all…A good weekend.

Another cider to add to the list

Monteith’s Crushed Apple Cider…
Quite nice in flavour, a bit too beer-y tasting at first, got used to the flavour after 4. Can taste quite bad when warm. The price (for 4) isn’t too bad. I think they were $11.99 from Dan Murphy’s? It’s made in New Zealand by the way.

I like the label design on this bottle. Overall, this cider has a nice taste. I don’t think it’s anything that special though. It kind of tasted the same as everything else…

New Cider Alert!

Last saturday night I had a cider at The Troubadour that I have never seen or tasted before… Magners. It had a nice subtle taste, and wasn’t as ‘fizzy’ or ‘beer-y’ as some of the other ciders I’ve had before.

Would I recommend it?…

Yes.

(The photo isn’t too great because it was too dark inside)

Zombie-Engagement

Last saturday it was Matthew and Samantha’s engagement party… ZOMBIE STYLE.

It was awesome. They had made a grave yard (complete with green florescent lights and a smoke machine), lots of zombie treats (brain jelly/cake etc) and an awesome zombie-fied engagement cake.
The turn out was huge. So many people were dressed up. The only let down was the cold weather…
Before the party, Greg, Jess and I went to the local Night Owl just for fun…and for zombie chews for some awesome zombies like us (they didn’t have any…how rude!).

I took more photos on my film SLR, I just have to scan them onto my computer…

So i’ll have more SOON. (down there)

Zombie engagement cake (with a finger!)

Card holder/box

Hoooooooo…Grave yard (with the smoke)

Zombie Jess…This turned out awesome!

We’re cruisin’ now!

On saturday Greg and I were invited to a 21st birthday party…ON A BOAT. The Kookaburra Queen to be exact.

There was a professional photographer at the party and at the end he would already have all of the photos printed out for people to buy. We were having a look at the photos (we avoided him, so we didn’t have any photos from him), and he held up a photo of our friends Laura and Sean, and asked “Is this you?”. We just walked away laughing. Haha.

The drinks on the boat were reasonably priced too, so that was a plus!

New camera

Greg and I went to a garge sale on saturday near my house. There wasn’t much left because we got there around 11-11:30 am.
We bought this camera for $8 something (we just gave them all of the change in our wallets). What was annoying about it though was the fact that the batteries needed to be replaced ($10 each, and it needs 2!) and we needed to buy film (which was obvious anyway). It’s a very nice camera, and I feel special holding it.

It’s a Canon EOS 3000n SLR by the way.

Can’t wait to use it more!! I think Greg was and is still amazed at how kewl slr cameras are…

Dinner time!

After ‘trying’ to do some birthday/mothers day shopping for 7 people on friday in the city, we went to this new italian restaurant across from Starbucks (basically) at Queen Street Mall in that new building. It’s called Vapiano.

The system that the restaurant uses is very different to any other. First you grab a card and a menu, then you line up for whatever you want to eat (there’s a line for pasta, pizza, drinks etc), they cook the pasta in front of you (which was kewl to see), then you order and scan your card. Then, when you’re ready to leave, you go up to the front counter, they scan your card, and you pay the amount that you’ve spent.

The bad thing about this restaurant is that there’s no set tables. There’s tables up and down stairs, but there’s a limited amount. So if it’s busy, you find it hard to find a table. Greg and I were lucky (after being there for around 20 minutes, by the way) to find 2 seats. That being said, I would reccommend that you do not go there on friday nights…

The food was quite good though, and reasonably priced. We spent $39 and got 1 pasta meal, 1 pizza (they’re pretty big), a coke and an apple cider (it was a brand I hadn’t had before – shown bellow).

My EMPTY pasta bowl.

Bulmers? I wanted a Strongbow or 5 Seed…This was their subsitute. It wasn’t too bad! And the card we had to use on the side.
