Recent Experiences

Hi,
I think it’s been a while since i’ve posted something. I have been doing things, just haven’t been blogging about them.

The last major ‘experience’ happened last week…Splendour in the Grass.
It had to be one of the best things I have ever done. I haven’t really been camping before, so that was different, but it was heaps of fun. The lineup for the festival was the best I have ever seen.  It consisted of:

  • The Strokes
  • The Temper Trap
  • The Pixies
  • Mumford and Sons
  • Passion Pit
  • The Vines
  • Two Door Cinema Club
  • HOT CHIP

And many others that were awesome.

I’ll upload some photos soon.

The last 2 experiences happened on the weekend.
Friday night was our trip to Sono Japanese Restaurant at Hamilton. I was amazed by how nice it looked. They had traditional seating along the side window which had the view of the water (Brisbane river). That’s where we sat hehe. I was expecting to be sitting on the the floor, but how they had designed it was that you step onto a higher floor then they had a small seat that you could sit on and have your legs inside the higher floor. Wow, that’s really had to explain. Not sure if that makes sense. Here’s some photos i’ve found on Google.

We were sitting on the left corner table.

We had a variety of meals – starting off with Sushi and these crab croquets. Then going on to our mains – Greg had Snapper with clam sauce and I had fish (cod) marinated in miso soup (it was the best fish I have ever had!). Then finishing with dessert – Greg had a Strawberry Mousse cake (it tasted so fresh) and I had Tempera Ice cream.

On saturday we went to a Vietnamese restaurant called Red Lotus with our friends Erin and Nick. We ordered a banquet dinner, and got so much food. Way too much. One of the dishes they served was raw beef with some vegetables, and was cooked in front of us by using mentholated spirits and fire to cook the ingredients in the bowl. At one stage, the fire went out, so they added more metho to the saucer under neath, and spilt some on the table in front of me, and still lit it. The fire was on the table less than 30 cm away from me. Haha, the waiter kept trying to blow it out, but it kept coming back. After that he was so nervous. He was shaking when he was handing us plates etc. Overall, it wasn’t too bad though. It was quite eventful, and think that it made the night.

Satur-day/Satur-night/Sunday (17-18 April)

This is a mixed post for 2 days…

Saturday day:

(Owned by Greg’s family) I’ve always wanted to take a photo of it… How could anyone find this doll cute? It’s kind of creepy.

Saturday night:

Philadelphia Grand Jury – April 17th at the Zoo.
(My last birthday present from Greg). They were awesome, as always!
We walked home from Altandi station. It took us around an hour, which is ok. (We got home at 2-3 am though). We had a warm Milo and a Tim Tam each before we slept.

Sunday:

I came first in the Malaysian Grand Prix!!!

More photos

I didn’t want to waste another hour + on uploading more photos on here, so I’ve uploaded them to facebook instead. You can view them here…

Twenty-One

Here are some photos from my 21st birthday weekend.

Opening a gift from Greg… It’s a slow cooker!

Lisa and Sam at the bowls club.

Friends waiting to have a bowl and having a FREE drink…hehe

The bowling green with some of Greg’s family and friends bowling…

Lise, Julie, Greg (grr) and Jon.

One half of our table (table 1): Sean, Laura and Lise.

Second half of our table (table 1): Greg, Dad and Scott/Scoot.

All other tables and people…

Our first main meal dishes. We had Mongolin Lamb, BBQ pork with plum sauce, sliced beef with oyster sauce, deep fried crispy chicken, mixed vegetables and special fried rice. Tasted awesome!

My piece of birthday cake. Greg and Greg’s Mum, Julie, decorated it.

Waiting at the bus stop, wooowooowooowo. Hehe. (We got off at the wrong stop in the valley, so we had to catch another bus back from this stop…)

My first Long Island Ice Tea kindly donated by Liz (who is in the backgrond).

Finished…

Before catching the last train home, we got some mc fries. (I don’t know that guy to the side by the way…)

Very dark photo of a possum we saw on the walk home from the train station.

Blury inmage of the police car (the little red lights) that got our details just in case we were thieves…They wanted my phone number but not Greg’s? Not fair.

Meal I had at Wagamamas on my actual birthday (Monday).

Awkward Ice Shape

Greg and I were adding some ice to our alcoholic beverages, and to our suprise, we came across a werid shaped piece of ice.
It looks like a pair of gentials haha…

Easter Shopping

Greg and I were easter shopping yesterday (Sunday) at Sunnybank Plaza, and we noticed this weird easter advertising sticker outside an middle-age womens clothing shop (I think it was called Crossroads?). Not sure exactly how it relates to the store.
It’s quite weird…?
